The adoption Process - as easy as

Sparks

First I will write everything wonderful Sparks previous owners have told us, then I will tell you his problems......

Sparks is a super sweet 7 yr old 15h chestnut AQHA gelding.  He goes English or Western is  good at walk, trot, canter in the arena or on trails.  Sparks has great ground manners, leads, loads, ties, clips, lunges, gets along with other horses as well as the vet and farrier.  He is up to date on all shots, worming, and feet-front shoes.  He is said to have no vices - no kicking, spooking, bucking, biting, rearing or cribbing.  He was ridden mostly English by his previous owners 12 year old but lately she's been riding him western just to round him out and get him to be all around and they discovered he has a wonderful western pleasure jog and nice slow lope while keeping his head level.  They were using a bosal and he picked up the neck reining immediately, he also listens very well to leg pressure.  He side passes, backs, and he does flying lead changes very well. He's been to many shows and doesn't mind being in the ring with a lot of horses and he doesn't pay attention to the chaos outside the ring either.  He stands tied to the trailer with or without hay and stand there all day no problem.

He's a great horse HOWEVER he has been lame off and on for the past 1 1/2 years we've had him.  We've had his right front x-rayed and it showed nothing wrong. I think it's his left hip that's the problem because when his feet are trimmed that's the only leg (left rear) he tries to pull away.

Allison also says:

His lameness is defiantly in his hind legs.  We were riding him this weekend after 1 week without bute and you can tell a difference.  It appears that the leg issue may be structural.  If that is the case he will need some sort of daily pain regiment.  He does fine without bute for 3-4 days but after that he needs some.  He does tend to work out some of his stiffness and soreness after being ridden a few minutes.  He rides GREAT!!!  He is more responsive with a working hand on the bit during your lope and trot, but is easily willing to mosey around as well.
